German VW ‘seriously considering’ Pakistan plant

Volkswagen plans to launch its brands in Pakistan, the German Ambassador to Pakistan, Cyrill Nunn, said.

The company is in talks with prospective local partners, Autolook Reported

The government wants at least one European automaker – Italian or German – to build a plant in the country in the next couple of years, Pakistan's Board of Investment chairman, Miftah Ismail, said.

The world's second largest carmaker, Volkswagen sold 8.1 million units last year and expects to increase this number to 10 million in 2018. The company has set its eyes on new production facilities in such fast growing markets as China, India, Turkey and Russia.
